
Bob Welsh died at the age of 87 on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at St. Mary Medical Center.Born and raised in the coal mining town of Natalie in upstate PA, Bob moved as a teenager along with his family to Philadelphia where he graduated in 1946 from Roman Catholic High School.Bob joined the US Army during the Korean War era and was honorably discharged in 1954 having attained rank of Staff Sergeant.Bob and his wife of 61 years (Margaret aka "Maggie") married in 1955 and were original homeowners in Levittown where they reside for 49 years until they moved to Bensalem in 2004.Bob was employed in sales at 3M in Bristol for 35 years until his retirement in 1989. During that time he also served many years as President of the "3M Club" and as well coached the Beck Dougherty Little League baseball and the Immaculate Conception CYO basketball teams.He was the loving father of Bob Welsh (wife Diane) and Pam Almeida (husband John) both of Langhorne and the devoted grandfather of Lauren Welsh Carew (Kevin), Ryan Welsh, Jessica Almeida Morris (Rob) and Josh and Jake Almeida. Bob was also great grandfather of Eric and Olive Morris as well as Cody and Wes Carew.Bob is as well survived by sisters in law Ann Marie Karkut (the late Charles) of Yardley and Michele Adams-Slusser (Jim) of Langhorne along with nephew Leo Dreith of Seattle, WA.Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday evening and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10 a.m. at St. Ephrem Church, 5400 Hulmeville Rd, Bensalem. Interment will take place on Tuesday, 2:30 p.m. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne Newtown Rd., Langhorne, PA 19047.
