

who loved him most after a brave six-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Lou was born on December 7, 1953, in Philadelphia, the son of Joseph and Mary (Moffo) Gottsabend.
A dedicated brick and stone mason, Lou began his working life in the U.S. Steel Mill before building a proud 30-plus-year career with Local 1 Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union.
Above all else, Lou was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Joan Anne (Gallagher) Gottsabend; his son Luke Gottsabend; grandchildren Daniel and Jessica; bonus granddaughter Olivia Carapella; daughter-in-law Andria Downey; and his BEST friend Pat Harrigan.
He also leaves behind siblings Joan Ruggieri and her husband Thomas Ruggieri, Dean Gottsabend, and Jackie Gottsabend, along with extended family including Paul Nolan, Annette (Capriotti) Gottsabend, Patty Gallagher, Cathy Gallagher, Loretta Gallagher, and Aunt Sarah Lorenzo, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary; his brother Joseph “Buddy” Gottsabend; brothers-in-law Joseph and Ronald Gallagher; and nephews Joey Gallagher and Nick Ruggieri.
Lou loved the outdoors and was happiest bow hunting, fishing, and spending time in the mountains of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed traveling to Long Beach Island and the Caribbean and treasured hunting trips to Long Bottom, Ohio at HUPP Outfitters with his son Luke and nephew Mike.
He also enjoyed his time at LA Fitness in Langhorne, where friendships and conversation were always part of the routine.
Lou will be remembered for his strength of character, loyalty, courage, and unwavering love for his family. Anyone who knew him also knew he had a taste for pizza, anchovy bread, and peppermint patties.
