

Margaret (Dunn) Hayden passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Wood River Village in Bensalem with her family at her side.Margaret was born January 1, 1920, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Mary and Richard Dunn. Margaret was the beloved wife of the late John H. Hayden. They lovingly shared 65 years together as true partners committed to each other's happiness.Margaret is survived by her loving daughter Donna Whiteoak and caring son-in-law Warren as well as her beloved grandsons Ryan and Todd who enjoyed a special relationship with their "Nanee."Margaret was predeceased by her two sisters Mary Hunter and Rita Cook. They shared a special bond having been raised at Saint Vincent's Home after the death of their mother. Throughout her life, Margaret was devoted to Mary and Rita often caring for them during an illness.Margaret was also "Aunt Maggie" to her niece Patricia Monagle (Daniel) and nephews William Hunter, Edward Hunter (Maureen) and Rodger Boland (Patricia).Margaret was a registered nurse and worked for the Budd Company in Philadelphia but really found her calling as a school nurse at Benjamin Franklin Middle School in Bristol Township. Not only did she care for the students but Margaret also became well known to the faculty as her office became a place of relaxation for them and new friendships were bonded.Margaret also served the community every Thanksgiving by providing free turkeys to needy families. Caring for others was truly her calling in life.Spending time with her family was her greatest joy. She never missed a celebration and will always be remembered for her generous spirit. Margaret's passing will leave a void in many lives but fond memories will bring solace.The family would like to thank the entire staff of Wood River Village for their compassionate care of Margaret. They would also like to thank Kindred Hospice who so lovingly cared for Margaret at the end of her life's journey.Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. Friends may also call on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 9:00 until 9:45 am at Saint Michael the Archangel Church, 66 Levittown Parkway, Levittown, where her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania.
