Born in Northampton, Massachusetts, Mary Ann grew up in Hadley as a “farmer’s daughter.” She explored and lived in several different parts of the country before meeting and marrying a city boy, Michael Gregory, in 1971. They lived in several states before settling in Lawrenceville, NJ, where they lived for many years before moving to Levittown, Pennsylvania in 1989. Mary Ann was loved by all of her longtime and new neighbors, and loved the community they all shared for over thirty years. She also had a much cherished group of friends she would refer to as “the ladies,” who all worked together for many years and shared many fun outings. She was a member of Queen of the Universe Parish.
She enjoyed staying active and she was most likely to be found outdoors on a sunny day. One of her favorite activities was swimming. She often swam a mile a day well into her seventies and continued to swim despite her battle with cancer. She loved kayaking at Core Creek Park, bicycling on the many beautiful trails in her area and dancing with her husband.
She had an incredible artistic gift and could often be found doing woodworking or painting. A Polish girl at heart, if you walked into her house on any Saturday morning you would hear the radio blaring polka music.
Mary Ann cherished time with her grandchildren. Being a kid at heart, she loved to play right along with them when they were young and cherished these moments as some of the greatest in her life.
Mary Ann was known by her family to have a quick wit and would always “tell it like it is.” Shortly before her passing she shared some life advice with her only granddaughter, which perfectly summed up her sense of humor and ability to always laugh at herself and her situation. Leaning in, she told Grace “You want some life advice…If you’re going to be a bitch - don't half-ass it!" She never lost the ability to make those around her laugh.
Throughout her Iife, even during the worst days of her illness, she was always more concerned for her family than for herself. Mary Ann will be mourned by her beloved husband of fifty years Michael T. Gregory, children Shawn Burke and Miah Harbaugh, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, siblings Joanne Barnes, Elizabeth Basara, and Carl Tudryn, Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Josephine Tudryn and her sister, Carol Zgrodnik, all of Massachusetts.
It was Mary Ann’s wish that no funeral service be held. Her family will honor her in a celebration of life at a future date.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in her memory to one of her favorite charities, such as St Jude Children’s Research Hospital ( https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html)
Her family is grateful to the staff of Chandler Hall Hospice. They have tough jobs which they do superbly with skill and grace. They were, and continue to be, a source of great comfort to her family.
