Melanie Marie Harkanson

Melanie Marie Harkanson died suddenly on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. She was 28. Born in Trenton, NJ, the daughter of Donna (McCloskey) and Joseph J. Harkanson, Jr. of Warminster, she was a resident of Northeast Philadelphia. She was employed with Original Village Pizza in the Northeast. She liked traveling and enjoyed Knoebels Amusement Park in Elysburg, PA. Melanie was very proud of her medical assistant certification that she received from Delaware Valley Academy and was currently employed with Delaware Valley Orthopedic Center. She was a hard worker who always went above and beyond at any job she held. Along with her parents, Melanie is survived by her brothers and sisters, James, Michelle, Kimberly, Jacqui and Jake; her fiancee, Ignacio Navarro, her favorite little one, her niece, Holly Harkanson,her ex husband/friend, Stephen Terrill of Philadelphia; and her paternal grandfather, Joseph J. Harkanson, Sr. (the late Lois). She will also be sadly missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charles and Dorothy McCloskey. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, 3:00 until 5:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. Services and interment will be held privately.
