Melchor was a beloved and respected husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be remembered for a beautiful life defined by hard work, generosity, faith, and love for his family.
Melchor was born in San Fabian, Philippines, to Floro and Natividad Torres. He attended college at University of Santo Thomas before joining the United States Navy in 1960, where he proudly served his country for 20 years. Following his military career, Melchor continued his dedication to serving others through his work with the United States Postal Service.
To the many people who loved him, Melchor was known by many special names— “Uncle Mike,” “Daddy Melchor,” “Bossing,” “Lolo,” and, of course, “Handsome.” Each name reflected the special place he held in the hearts of those around him.
Melchor was a devoted Catholic who cherished his faith and remained active in his community, regularly attending Mass and finding strength and comfort in his relationship with God. Throughout his life, he was known for his generous heart, free-spirited personality, and kind nature. He loved karaoke, spending time with his family, and simply enjoying the company of the people he loved.
Melchor will always be remembered as a caring man who rarely complained and who approached life with a gentle and positive spirit. His kindness, generosity, laughter, and loving presence brought comfort and joy to those around him.
Melchor leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Edna Torres; his daughters, Lee Anne Torres and her husband, Alex, and daughter Kristina Torres; and his beloved grandchildren, Lorenzo and Christian Robles, and Bella and Talia Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floro and Natividad Torres, as well as two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his siblings, Lamberto, Filomena, and Cecilia.
Those who knew and loved Melchor will forever carry his memory in their hearts. His love, laughter, wisdom, generosity, and presence touched the lives of many. Though he is deeply missed, the memories he created and the love he shared will live on through his family and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
May he rest peacefully in the loving arms of God.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA.
A second visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 9:45 am to 10:45 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mark Parish, 1025 Radcliffe St, Bristol, PA.
Burial with Full Military Honors will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd, Newtown, Pennsylvania 18940, on August 25, 2026, at 1:30 pm.
