Merrill R. RamsdaleMerrill R. "Myrt" Ramsdale died at his home on Saturday, May 14, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was 84.Born and raised in Locust Dale, PA, Myrt was a 1950 graduate of Con-Cen High School. He was a resident of Levittown since 1961 and a member Saint Frances Cabrini Parish, Fairless Hills.After completing high school, Myrt went to serve his country with the US Navy aboard the USS Philippine Sea CV-47 during the Korean War. He was extremely proud of his service to his country.Until his retirement in 1987, Myrt was a Recorder in the Sheet and Tin Division of US Steel, Fairless Works for 29 years.He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed Penn State Football and the Flyers. Myrt was an avid reader, history buff and he enjoyed classical music. He was the son of the late Stella (Glessner) and Franklin Ramsdale.Devoted husband of nearly 61 years to Marijo (Bergan), Myrt was the loving father of Joanne Donadieu (John) of Levittown; Richard (Joan) of Horsham; Christopher (JoAnn) of East Stroudsburg; and Yvonne Lowrie (James) of Langhorne.He was the cherished grandfather of Richard, Kevin, Kyle (Angelica), Christopher, Kelly, Patrick, Jennifer and Alicia; great grandfather of Kaleb; and beloved brother of Frank Ramsdale of Harrisburg and the late Robert Ramsdale.Myrt will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 6:00 until 9:00 and on Wednesday from 8:00 until 9:00 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday evening at 8:00 pm The Rite of Committal will take place on Wednesday, 10:00 am, in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Myrt may be made to PA Veterans Foundation, PO Box 98, Annville, PA 17003.
