Michael A. Lawrence of Newportville passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Statesman Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long journey with end stage renal disease. He was 70 years old.
Born in Trenton and raised in Bristol Borough, Mike was a long-time resident of Lower Bucks County. Mike graduated with a degree in Accounting from Temple University and went on to work as a manager of Rite Aid, and subsequently a long time on the road salesman at Window Wizards and Home Depot. However, his most beloved job, and the place that developed his love of flowers, plants, and gardening, was as the assistant manager at Gaudio’s garden store.
Mike was known for his great storytelling and his quick-witted sarcasm. He enjoyed spending time in the garden with his wife, Rhonda, and assisting her in the kitchen preparing meals for their large family. Mike was an avid lover of sports including football, baseball, bowling and softball. Mike and Rhonda met while competing in a bowling league in their 20s. Although he enjoyed playing sports, his friends often referred to him as “stone hands” because once the football was in his hands, it immediately hit the ground. Mike was full of endless knowledge that he was always willing to share with those who needed help. He was dependable and was always there to lend a helping hand. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was so proud of his family.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Rhonda M. Lawrence as well as his mother, Anne Lawrence, father, Edward Lawrence Sr., brother, Edward Lawrence Jr. and sister-in-law Nancy Lawrence.
Michael was the loving father of Kelly Keene (Ryan), Ryan Lawrence (Lauren), Timothy Lawrence, and Hayleigh Scott (Dillon) and the devoted grandfather of Olivia, Samantha and Emilia Keene, Everett, Alexander and June Lawrence, and Magnolia Scott.
Family and friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2023 at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown where his funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the American Kidney Fund or the American Heart Association.
