Richie was an excellent athlete!  Basketball, baseball, football, hockey, horseshoes, pool, and stickball/fastball/halfies. During the 70s and 80, there was a Phila parks n rec guy named Al who took care of Overington park.  He was kind to all of us.  However, he loved Rich and his athletic abilities.  He would say, if you hit it out of the park…I’ll buy you a hoagie.  Consistently, multiple times, and daily, Rich would knock the ball out of the park.  And everyone would cheer. And Al would smile and shake his head in admiration towards Rich.  Rich never did collect on those hoagies.  I know he’s up in heaven with Al and that love for one another is still exsistant.  Pride for the kid who could excite the crowd and crack a bat!  Richie truly was admired for his athleticism. 

1975-76 Overington Park.  There was a storm and lightning struck an old gigantic tree which cause it to fall over.  Over the next week, I decided to climb the tree. The tree was sideways and very easy to climb on it and go walking up to the top or towards the canopy of the tree.  Reaching near the top, I realized I was pretty high off the ground.  I got scared and started to cry.  I couldn’t get down!   My brother Richie was there that day along with some other kids.  Richie climbed up the tree and threw me over his back and calmly descended from the top down to the ground and put me onto my feet safely on the ground.  I said thank you Richie you saved me!   He said ok.   Throughout his life I would continue to see him do things like that quietly and without recognition.  He was a hero with honor.  Thank you Richie!

I am sad and sorry for the loss of your brother Ritchie. 
I remember playing Greenwolf with you and Ritchie in the churchyard behind your house.  I remember him jumping over your backyard fence into the churchyard. Ritchie was the fastest kid in the neighborhood !  I remember Sue and I going fishing with Ritchie.
It was my first time fishing and I was not feeling so well Ritchie was very kind and understanding when I couldn't stay out there in the fishing boat as long as he planned to.  Ritchie was a good guy. I saw what a great big brother he was to Sue.  I will miss him.  You and Ritchie are in my prayers.

I am so sorry…I know Richie was in a lot of pain, and now he is at rest. But I also know, as was with Michael, you always have that HOPE, that hope…that it’s going to get better. 
I love you all and my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time..and always actually. 💔❤️

I'm so deeply sorry bout the loss of Richie. I remember all the good times we had when Kathy and Richie would babysit my sisters and I.  All those great hiding places that Richie put me in while playing hide and seek. I'm so shocked and so sad. My childhood was nothing but great times and so my memories that I will cherish and never forget. We had so many laughs. Richie was the kindest person with a big heart and so much fun to be around. My sisters and I were very lucky to have him in our lives as little girls.  He was the best babysitter any little kid could ask for.  He will be missed. Rest in Peace. I love you!!!
