Rose Cechak

Rose (Mom, Rosie, Mrs. C., Nana) Cechak, a Levittown resident for 55 years, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011. She was 83 years old. She was born on November 14, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to Giovanni and Vincenza Amari. She was the youngest of seven girls. After excelling in school, she attended Queens College. She worked at Fairchild's/Woman's Wear Daily in NYC, where she made many lifelong friends. She was a proud member of Queen of the Universe Church where she made many special friends on the cleaning crew. She loved shopping, fashion, reading, and politics. A stay at home mother of seven, she had a great talent for cooking and baking. Known for her dry wit and great sense of humor, she tried to tell everyone 'the story of her life'. Rose lost her beloved husband of 57 years, Bill, on April 25, 2011. She was predeceased by her infant son J.M. Cechak and her granddaughter Christina Francisco. Left to cherish her memory are her children Lisa (John) Francisco of Levittown, Anita (John) Somplasky of Collegeville, PA Chris (Elaine) Cechak of Annapolis, MD, Jan (Debbie) Cechak of Tunkhannock, PA, Eric (Nancy) Cechak of Moneta, VA, Rich (Carrie) Cechak of Gilbertsville, PA and Andrea (Joe) Leahy of Levittown. She was a wonderful Nana to Steven (Nicole) Francisco, Andrew Somplasky, Jeremy Somplasky, Ryan Somplasky, Lauren Cechak, Rachael Cechak, Gregory (Tracy) Cechak, Thomas Cechak, Charles Cechak, Anthony Cechak and Nicholas Cechak, step-Nana to Sean, Katie, and Tyler Buckwalter. She is also survived by her closest friend Pat Walsh. Family and friends of Rose and Bill are invited to call on Thursday, May 12th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Rd., Levittown. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Rose and Bill at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
