

Thomas D. Mills died on Friday, February 24, 2017 at his home in Bradenton, Florida. He was 71. Born in Newark, New Jersey in 1945, Tom lived most of his life as a resident of Bristol, Pennsylvania where he cultivated a distinguished career in law enforcement that spanned a period of 32 years. Beginning as a patrolman with the Bristol Township Police Department in 1968, Tom held many positions within the department including service as a detective, internal affairs officer and narcotics officer. He rose through the ranks from patrolman to sergeant and ultimately retired as Chief of Police in 2000. Tom was the childhood sweetheart and husband of 43 years of the late Jody (Gillum) Mills. He was also predeceased by his parents (Curzon and Frances), his brothers Kenneth and Melvin and sister Louise Jones. Tom was the loving father of Lori, Susan Akay (Henry), Cheryl Kolb (John), Debbie Spinks (Dave) and Michelle Dahms and a devoted pop-pop to Alex, Samantha, Dylan, Carson, Jared, Maddie, Wyatt and Brady. Tom is also survived by his loving companion of several years, Dawn Robart, his sisters Margaret Edwards, Marlene Potts (Jim), brother Robert (Linda), brothers-in-law, Gary Gillum and Ken Jones, sister-in-law, Mary Ellen, a beloved Aunt, Agnes Graham, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and Family are invited to call on Sunday, March 5, 2017 between 3:00 and 5:00 PM at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
