

Vern C. Summerville Vern C. Summerville died Monday, July 5, 2010 at Manor Care Nursing & Rehabilitation in Lower Makefield. He was 84. Mr. Summerville was born and raised in Oklahoma, PA. Also formerly of Vandergrift, PA, he was a resident of Fairless Hills for 58 years. Prior to retiring in 1986 after 40 years of employment, Vern was a foreman in the masonry division of USX Fairless Works. He was employed at Bucks County Weights and Measures, and later retired from JC Penney. He was a democrat committee person for 45 years and was also the chairman of the Falls Township Water and Sewer Authority. A Navy Veteran of World War II, Mr. Summerville retired after 32 years of both active and reserve duty. He was a member of the Fallsington American Legion Post #834. He was also a member of St. Frances Cabrini Chruch. Vern is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty L. nee George Summerville and by his devoted children: Cynthia L. Lee and the late Thomas Lee of Levittown, Linda L. Reilly and the late Thomas Reilly of Levittown, Evonne K. Gogolla of Quakertown, and Keith L. Summerville and his wife Beth of Fairless Hills. He will also be sadly missed by his twelve grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, his sisters June Hollabaugh of Apollo, PA and Blanche Dudek of Greensburg, PA and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 9 a.m. Friday at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 325 South Oxford Valley Road, Fairless Hills. Rite of Committal will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
