Born in South Philadelphia, his family moved to the Langhorne area when he was two years old, and he was an area resident for 90 years. He was inducted into the US Army in 1953 during the Korean War, and was stationed in Germany. He was discharged in 1955.
Vincent was employed by the Reading Railroad, Race Street-Philadelphia from 1948 to 1984 as a train controller. In 1984, the company split into SEPTA and Conrail, and Vincent stayed with Conrail as a Custom’s Clerk in Morrisville so that he was able to work closer to home until he retired in 1992.
He was a devout parish member of Queen of the Universe Church. He was a member of the Kyak Dance Club in Trenton, NJ. Vincent learned to play the saxophone in his high school band, and played the saxophone for 10 years for the Greater Bucks String Band. He was the leader and owner of a band for 20 years, and played numerous weddings and other affairs.
Vincent had a passion for farming, beginning at age 9 when he picked asparagus before school. He maintained a large vegetable garden throughout his life.
Vincent had a sharp memory. He was trained in Morse code by Reading in 1948, and could tap out Morse code to this day. He was always telling stories of the past, but was always quick with “Pop Culture.” Vincent was an avid sports fan, and his favorite teams were the Eagles and the Phillies. However, Vincent’s favorite pastime was having conversations with company, talking about the good old days, and today. Of all of his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family. He will be lovingly remembered for his giving heart, great conversations, wise advice and sense of humor.
Preceded in death by his parents, Florindo and Louise (Razzano) Paolini; his beloved wife Giovina Paolini and grandson, Vincenzo Illiano, he was the loving father of Nancy Illiano (Raffaele) and Roseann Illiano (Ciro); devoted grandfather of Andrea Illiano (Allison), Maria Cristina Pino (Joseph), Marissa Illiano and Andrea Illiano (Brianna) and great grandfather of Cristian, Payton, Gianna and Luca. Vincent is survived by his sister, Antonette Santone and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 9:30 until 10:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne, PA.
