Born in Harrisburg, Pa, Ginny grew up in the neighboring town of Steelton and later earned her nursing degree at the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing. It was while waiting for a bus to school that she met her future husband, Edward. Ed and Ginny married in 1948 and moved to Fairless Hills when the Fairless Works steel mill opened. Ginny began her career as an RN at Lower Bucks Hospital when it opened in 1954 and later became Nursing Supervisor before retiring on New Year’s Eve in 1988.
Ginny was a founding member of the Lower Bucks Hospital Credit Union, and after retirement volunteered at Lower Bucks Radiology. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Fairless Hills, participating in the choir and fundraising events.
Ginny had many interests. She enjoyed drawing, ceramics and crafting, and built a small post-retirement business from her beautifully designed wreaths and trees. She enjoyed the casino as well as playing bridge and poker and later learned to play Mahjong in her 90s. Ginny also enjoyed tracing her family genealogy.
Though Ginny was a private person, she was loved by family, friends, and co-workers for her selfless and respectful nature, and her life-long rule of never saying a bad word about anyone.
Predeceased by her parents; her loving husband of 64 years, Edward; her daughter, Nancy Louise Shartle; and her son-in-law, Bill Huf; Ginny is survived by her daughters, Patricia Harris (Thomas), and Cindy Huf.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a funeral service, at the James J.
