Always a gentleman with a big friendly smile. A treasured classmate, my sincere condolences to his entire family.

I would like to express my condolences at the passing of Wayne to his family and friends.Wayne was a dear friend and a high school classmate and also a very valued member of the SHR high school football team.  I will always remember Wayne--Number 33--for his speed catching the football.Wayne was a very talented  actor.  He played the leading part during his senior year at SHR in a play that was performed in Atlantic City, NJ, at the Baptist Convention in May of 1964.  Wayne and a cast of his fellow high school students put on an outstanding performance and received a standing ovation by more than 21,000 people who were attending the  convention that day.  Moments later the late Reverend Billy Graham who had seen the play, came backstage and took the opportunity to congratulate Wayne on his outstanding performance.  What a proud moment for Wayne, his family and fellow SHR students.  That day was Wayne Wood's day!Wayne will be sadly missed by his family, friends and his SHR classmates of the class of '64.My prayers and thoughts are with Wayne and his family.Rest in peace my dear friend. To me he was always “Big” Wayne. for the past fifty years Wayne Wood has always been a part of my life and now there is an empty void.  As a young boy, Wayne was always known to me as “Big” Wayne; he was tall in stature and there was a “little” Wayne, so this all seemed very natural to call him “Big” Wayne.  As I aged, I came to realize that there was much more to this nickname and that the “Big” must have been associated with the size of his heart.  He was a great man, worked hard, loved his family and friends, and always had time for others. He had an easy-going personality with wonderful sense of humor.  As years past, I mostly only saw Wayne at family functions but every time I saw him still had the same wry smile that contained a sure to be had laugh.  I will surely miss our conversations about life, work, and the Phillies.  Rest in Peace “Big” Wayne and make those that have passed before us smile the way you did us.

It's been a while since I've seen Wayne, but even now, just thinking about him a smile breaks out on my face.  What a warm, kind and fun person to have known.  I was lucky enough to have been in many community theater shows with him.   Us old guys would hang out together at rehearsals as well as back stage during performances and share stories, gossip and jokes.   We shared a lot of laughter.  Such a positive person, for me, he added so much to the fun of doing a play.  He will be missed by many of the local theater community.  What a sad loss.  My deepest condolences to Tara, Vera and his loved ones.   He was such a good Man,  He will be missed.
