William Joseph Summers

William was born on November 9th, 1962 in Bristol, PA to parents, Chester L. Summers and Vona Lorraine Summers. He graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1980. He continued his education, graduating from Trenton State College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. William went on to establish a career as a Mechanical Engineer working for Empire Abrasive and previous companies for over 30 years.

William was an avid hunter, and loved visiting his family’s hunting camp in Huntingdon, PA. He belonged to a bowling league at Levittown Lanes for over 30 years. William was a dedicated coach for his children’s soccer teams for many years. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, and belonged to the HOG club. William was a “dog whisperer” and loved his dogs Misty and Lily.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Vona Lorraine Summers and his in-laws Charles and Laura Carder.

William is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Joan L. Summers, his children, Matthew (Michelle) Summers and Jessica (Sergio) Summers. He was also survived by his siblings Michael (Gail) Summers, Terri Summers, Tim (Chris) Summers, Barb (Bob) Guzzi, and many brother-in-law’s, sister-in-law’s, and nieces and nephews.

A visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 14th, 2023 from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of William Joseph Summers.
