William N. Van Ness

William N. Van Ness died surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Manor Care Nursing Home. He was 84. Born in Trenton, NJ, Mr. Van Ness was a Falls Township resident for over 50 years until moving to Manor Care two years ago. He was employed as a millwright at U.S. Steel for 36 years until retiring in 1986. Mr. Van Ness was a member of St. John the Evangelist parish where he served as an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7515. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family. Mr. Van Ness was the beloved husband of Lucy M. (Ragolia) for 59 years. He was the loving father of Maryanne Van Ness and William N. Van Ness, Jr. and the devoted grandfather of Melyssa Hammond. He will also be sadly missed by his sister Agnes Marfino of Trenton, NJ and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 8:00 until 10:15 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church followed by Rite of Committal in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
