

Adelaide was born March 23,1934 to Evelyn Winslow Bartlett and Norris Crockett Bartlett Sr. in Rockland, Maine.
She graduated from Rockland High School in 1952. Adelaide had a creative soul and enjoyed sewing and knitting as a youth. She was designing her own patterns and creating complete outfits in high school home economics classes. In her young adult life, she worked sewing gowns in a bridal shop in Mystic, Connecticut.
Adelaide went on to become an accomplished artist. She was encouraged by her husband Arnold McKenney to try many artistic avenues. She painted for over 30 years both in groups and on her own. She was a member of several artist groups in Maine and Texas, where she lived for several years. Her memberships included The Society of Decorative Artists, The Pride of Texas Decorative Artist, Tole n’ ME and Sea Strokes.
When she was in her late 40’s she learned to downhill ski with Arnold as her instructor. They skied all over the country including Colorado which they both loved. They also spent many weekends square dancing in Pennsylvania and Maine. Arnold was a square dance caller and Adelaide sewed all their outfits of course.
After Arnold died Adelaide lived many years with her daughter and great granddaughter in Texas and Maine continuing with her creative endeavors and enjoying many new adventures.
Adelaide was predeceased by both of her parents, her husband Arnold F McKenney, her siblings: Joan Bartlett, Frederick Bartlett, Evelyn Watrous, Norene Laatz, her granddaughter; Jaime Hyler and her furry companion for 16 years: Sasha, Bichon Frise.
Adelaide is survived by her children; Linda McKenney of Windham, David Schwartz of Houston, Texas, Alan Schwartz, and wife Christina of La Porte, Texas, grandchildren; Alan J Schwartz Jr. of Georgetown Texas and Brigitte Schwartz of Houston, Texas, Heidi Schwartz of Arkansas and great granddaughter, Nyana Hyler of Windham, stepdaughter Beth Ring, her husband Herbert Ring and their daughter Marie of Topsham, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held later in the Spring.
