Aldea Eva Grondin

1919 – 2017

LEWISTON - Aldea Eva Grondin, 97 of Lisbon passed away on June 4, 2017 at the Marshwood Nursing Home in Lewiston with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Lisbon Center on Dec 31, 1919. She was the daughter of Alfred and Maria (Belanger) Gamache. She lived in Lisbon all her life and was educated in Lisbon schools. She was married to Joffre L. Grondin on Sept 13, 1941. Her beloved husband passed away on Jan 31, 1983 after 42 years of marriage.

She was a hairdresser for 66 years. For years, she owned her own beauty shop in her home and enjoyed all the wonderful conversations and relationships she developed with her clients over the years. She was a devoted catholic and a former member of Saint Anne’s Church in Lisbon.

She raised two daughters while working many long hours but always had time for her family. For many years, she enjoyed gardening, knitting, and crocheting creating hand- made memories for her family members. She was a wonderful cook and was especially known for her whoopie pies and meat pies.

Survivors include two daughters, Lorette Harvey and her husband, Raymond of Lisbon, Lorraine Lucas and her husband, John R of South Berwick, five Grandchildren, Cynthia Wolcott and her husband, James of Dover, N.H., Laurie Lucas of Malta, N.Y., Kevin Harvey of Lewiston, Rhonda Mynahan and husband, Joseph of Lewiston, Brian Harvey of Lewiston, seven Great Grandchildren, Alexander, Andrew, Corey, Cody, Jordan, Brooklyn, and Ashley.

Besides her parents and loving husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Clifford, Romeo, Clarence, Reuben and one twin sister Clara Gartley.

The family would like to thank the staff at Marshwood Nursing Home for their mother’s wonderful care during her stay. A very special thanks to Barbara and Lori from Hospice who helped with the care for her during her final month and to Sandy and Amy for the compassion they always showed her.

GRONDIN died in Lewiston, June 4, 2017, Mrs. Aldea Eva Grondin age 97 years a resident of Auburn.

Funeral services honoring Aldea’s life will be held 10:00 AM THURSDAY June 8th at the funeral home. Graveside committal prayers will follow at St. Ann‘s Cemetery in Lisbon.
