Benjamin Tyler Paine, affectionately known as "Ben," passed away at the age of 26 on October 31, 2025, at home in Greene, Maine, surrounded by loved ones. Born on November 15, 1998, at Maine Medical Center, Ben was the beloved son of Cindy Paine and Tony Paine.
Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth, Ben faced numerous health challenges with remarkable courage and an infectious smile that could light up any room. He was the happiest and most loving young man, bringing joy to everyone he met. Throughout his life, Ben embarked on countless adventures with his parents, including trips to Disney World, San Antonio, Hershey Park, and Sesame Place. He attended Blue Angels airshows many times, enjoyed swimming in his younger years, participated in therapeutic horseback riding, and had a passion for all genres of music, action movies, fast cars, and fighter jets. Ben was an avid fan of the Patriots and Alabama Football and had a love for airplanes.
Ben is survived by his mother, Cindy Paine; his father, Tony Paine, and his spouse, Sarah Paine; his grandmothers, Ginny Parent and Dottie Stevens; his aunts, Jessica Bradstreet and Stephanie Noel; and his cousin, Michael Bradstreet. He was also cherished by his longtime caregivers, Maryellen Navarro, Donna Crimmin, and Valerie McLaughlin, who were his best friends and showed him immense compassion and love. Ben's school support teams at Scarborough and Greely, as well as his medical team at Boston Children’s and MaineHealth, provided dedicated care and support throughout his life. In his final months, Beacon Hospice offered invaluable education and support, with special thanks to his hospice nurse, Janay.
Predeceased by his grandfathers John Parent, Anthony Paine Sr., and David Stevens, Ben was deeply loved by those who had the privilege to know him. He cherished the little things in life, and his smile and sense of humor could brighten the day of anyone around him. Ben's love for life was evident in his interactions with people and his enjoyment of the outdoors, particularly at Cherry Pond Park in Greene, where he made many friends. He taught so many about the importance of enjoying life and was unconditionally loved by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Ben’s honor after his family has had time to grieve and heal. In lieu of flowers or cards, donations may be made to Make A Wish Maine, Hearts & Horses Riding Center in Buxton, ME, or NFR Maine dog rescue.
