

He was born in Lewiston, Maine on November 16, 1935 the son of the late Eleodore and Marie Blanche (McKeone) Carrier. He spent most of his youth in Catholic Schools, graduating from St. Dominic Regional High School Class of 1953. He enlisted in the army and after completing his service, married his wife Shirley (Rioux) in August of 1958. Together they lived in Lewiston until 2023 before moving to assisted living at the Gorham House.
He enjoyed his work duties at Sears in various departments for almost 40 years where he made many lifelong friends.
After retiring, he was active in the Knights of Columbus where he held several positions and also volunteered at the Lewiston Public Theater. He enjoyed attending hockey games at Lewiston Colisee, attending church at Holy Family Church and being part of the Franco American Community.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses Donna and Jim Katsiaficas, David and Michelle Carrier and Susan and Steven Dobieski; and six grandchildren Caitlin, Nathan and Jacob Katsiaficas, Lucas Carrier and Seth and Aaron Dobieski; and by his brother Julien and his wife Eliza of Port St. Lucie, FL.
Besides his wife and his parents he was predeceased by one brother Leonile (Nel) and a sister Annette Pelletier.
A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Bernard's life will be celebrated on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church. Committal Services will then follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. Those wishing may make donations in Bernard's memory to The Franco American Heritage Center at St. Mary's, 46 Cedar Street, Lewiston, Maine 04240. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 4-6 PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, 784-4023.
