AUBURN, ME. – Beulah Beatrice Linscott, Billie, passed peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 85, on June 7, 2018 after several days with family at her side at the Androscoggin Hospice House. She was born in Codyville Plantation, Sept 22, 1932, the 11th of 13 children born to LaForest and Flora (Harriman) Cochran. She attended local schools and moved to Portland after completing 8th grade to go to work and live with her older sisters. In 1951, she married Donald W. Linscott Jr.
Billie valued family above all. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Donald, three children, Gail, Gloria and Scott, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Also surviving are sisters, Daisy Marin of Falmouth, Louise Chapman of Scarborough and her brother, Hiram Cochran of Augusta. Billie was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Charles Ashton; and six sisters, Beatrice, Pauline, Helena, Verna, Lila, Maxine and Alice.
Billie lived through many difficult days and was the glue that kept her family together through good times and bad, leaning on her faith and determined spirit. She was kind, caring and always there for family when they needed help.
A memorial service for Beulah will be held Friday, June 22 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, 733 Main Street, Westbrook followed by a luncheon in the church dining hall. Billie’s ashes will be sheltered and later buried at the Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery next to her husband Donald’s when he passes, so that they will be placed together.
