Born May 18, 1940, in Upper Frenchville, Maine, she later resided in Lewiston, Maine.
In her early years, Carlene’s schooling was shaped by the realities of rural life. During her time in school, she and her fellow students were pulled from class to pick potatoes, paid by the bushel—an experience that reflected the steady work ethic and practical resolve that would continue to mark her life.
Carlene dedicated her professional life to nursing. A registered nurse, she graduated from St. Mary's Nursing School, formerly known as L'Hopital Generale Ste. Marie. She worked at St. Mary's and served as head nurse of the OR, where she was praised by many doctors for her leadership and skill. She also worked at Montello Heights, served per diem at CMMC, and finished her career at Bolster Heights—bringing consistent care, high standards, and a deep sense of responsibility to every setting.
She was married to Gilman Joseph Boucher until his passing in February of 2012. They met in her hometown of Upper Frenchville, a beginning that grew into a life shared with devotion and commitment.
A devoted Catholic, Carlene was a member of Holy Family Church. Her faith was a steady presence, reflected in the way she carried herself and the seriousness with which she regarded the dignity of others.
Throughout her life, Carlene stood as an advocate for nurses and for ensuring that people received the good things they deserved in life. In both her work and her convictions, she was guided by fairness, respect, and a clear-eyed understanding of what it means to care for others well.
Carlene is predeceased by her parents Leo and Mamie (Pelletier) Michaud, beloved husband Gilman, son Brian Boucher, sisters Jeannine Tardif and Viola Hebert as well as her brother Richard Michaud.
She leaves behind her son David Boucher, granddaughter Savanah and a grandson Thomas, two great grandchildren; Khloe and Lexi. Carlene also leaves behind her brothers Gerald (Wilma) Michaud, Paul Michaud and a sister Claudette Michaud.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the union staff of the M1 Ward at Central Maine Medical Center for the care and compassion they showed to Carlene.
