

Charles Anthony Warren, Sr., 55 years of age was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 23rd surrounded by his loving family at the WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center in Marietta, Georgia. A longtime resident of Brunswick the family moved to Georgia the beginning of 2016. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 19, 1960 to Melvina (Washington) Warren and the late Bennie Warren.
He was educated in the Detroit Public School System and later he attended Pensacola Junior College in Florida and CMCC in Lewiston. Charles enlisted in the US Navy in October 1981 where he served as a boatswain mate, parachute rigger and served in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He retired in October 2001 as a petty officer first class after 20 years. Later he became a school bus driver for the town of Brunswick from October 2001 until February 2009.
He married the love of his life, the former Lena Renee Rimson of Detroit, on August 12, 1980 and to this union five children were born. Charles was a devoted and loving husband and he would do anything to please his wife to make her happy. He supported all of his children's endeavors and would go above and beyond to help them. He attended ball games, plays, concerts and cheerleading practices. He wanted to ensure that his children knew that he was dedicated to whatever they wanted to be involved in. He also desired to see his children saved and serving God.
Known for his generosity, he enjoyed helping people. He helped those in need financially and the doors to his home were always open and people enjoyed the ‘Warren’ hospitality. A devout family man and to many he was known as Papa Tony. Both he and Momma Lena nurtured and cared for many of their nieces and nephews. He was honored to call Dorothy McDonald (his mother-in-law) and Sheila Rimson (his sister-in-law) his family, both of them were dedicated care givers to him as his health began to fail. Family meant everything to him! His passing leaves a legacy of love and fond memories to cherish.
Charles received Christ as his personal savior at the age of 17. As an adult he rededicated his life after joining Christ Temple Church of God in Christ in Auburn. His then pastor and mentor was Elder Isaac L. Jackson. He would go on to serve in several capacities during his tenure. He served as the local Sunday School Superintendent, treasurer, deacon, custodian, cook and driver. He was ordained as an Elder in August of 2005 by Bishop Steve Coleman, Jurisdictional Prelate of the Maine Jurisdiction, Church of God in Christ. He served as the associate pastor at Christ Temple working with Elder Albert R. Jackson until his relocation to Georgia.
He had a love and a passion for ministering in the jail system. He was a dedicated member of the Jail Ministry up until he was physically unable. His other love was serving as Chief Adjutant to the Bishop. Charles had a heart to serve!
Predeceased in death by his son, Christopher (1985) and 3 brothers; James, Ricky and Mitchell and one sister; Victoria. Left to mourn his passing is his devoted wife, Lena of 36 years, a loving family; Nakesha (Clint) Myrick of Lewiston, Charles Warren, Jr. and Brandi Brewster, Phillip (Hilary) Warren all of Bath; Tiffany Warren of Acworth, GA; Darius Wilson of Lewiston, Darrell Wilson of Brunswick, Gerald McNeal of Acworth, GA; Michael Wilson and Iymani Wilson of Detroit and Angela Rimson of Cheyenne, WY. His six grandchildren Iya, Charles III, Aiyana, Amaiya, Phillip Jr, and Ezekiel. His mother, Melvina Warren of Jacksonville, FL; two brothers Bennie Warren of Minneapolis, MN and Darwin Washington of Atlanta, GA. Three sisters; Sally Lewis of Detroit, MI, Sheryl (Keith) Graham of Jacksonville, FL and Akilah (Charles) Williams of Brunswick. Two goddaughters, Megan Guynes of Lewiston and Soccora Brown of Hinesville, GA. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Christ Temple Church of God in Christ, 2488 Turner Road, Auburn, ME 04210.The Viewing will be from 10:00AM–11:00AM with Bishop Steve Coleman officiating. Burial will be at 1:00p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, ME 04330
