Claire was born in Biddeford, Maine on April 5, 1940, daughter of the late Rosier and Pauline Brault. She attended Middlebury College, Vermont garnering a Master’s degree in French which she passionately put to use teaching Elementary French in Lewiston followed by High School French at Coney High in Augusta. After the birth of her two daughters Claire chose to capitalize on her master of the English language and made a career as a Proofreader. She worked for various companies throughout her life until retirement from TD Bank where she proofread loans.
Claire was very talented; she painted, sketched, knit, crocheted and canned. One of her greatest loves, after her daughters, was her garden, which flourished under her care. In addition to her gifts, Claire had a compassionate heart. Her soft spot for animals resulted in decades of caring for stray cats. Her heart for others is evident in her donations towards worthy causes like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Her biggest legacy however, is the sacrifice, love, memories, skills, encouragement and support she blessed her daughters with throughout her life. She is survived by her daughters, Shaun McKinnis (and husband, Francis) and Tracy Beaucage (and husband, Eric); seven grandchildren (Cameron, DiJaunte, Dymond, Drake, Allyson, Ashley, Amanda), six great-grandchildren and predeceased by grandson, Tres.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Cook and the ICU nursing staff of Central Main Medical Center for their wonderful care of Claire and the family.
