He was born in Lewiston, Maine on December 13, 1939 the son of the late Joseph and Marie (Forgues) Gendron and had been a resident of this community all of his life.
He was educated in Lewiston schools. He then served with the U.S. Army in the Airborne Division and then later with the Tank Team Division during the Korean Conflict. Following his services in the Army, he went on to CMVTI and earned his electrical license. He joined the Electrical Union at the age of 54, retiring in 2003.
Claude married the love of his life, Jacqueline Cloutier on October 31, 1959; she died on April 26, 2018.
Claude ran the C&J Hall on Webster Street in Lewiston. He also owned a ten unit apartment building in Lewiston where he cared for all of his tenants.
He was a lifelong member of the Webber Avenue Club which he used to call "The Office".
He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son Jimmy and his grandson Michael and loved going to Jackman at his daughter Sandy's camp. Claude was full of life and a kind and gentle man to everyone he met.
He is survived by his children Doreen, Sandy, Donna and Debbie; and many grandchildren.
Besides his wife Jacqueline, he was predeceased by a son James Gendron.
A Memorial Service along with a military honors service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mausoleum at St. Peter's Cemetery. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 4-7 PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, 784-4023.
