

Auburn - Conrad R. Charest, 74 of Lewiston passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice with his family by his side after a long illness. He was born in Lewiston, August 6, 1937 son of the late Armand and Florida Champagne Charest. He was educated in Lewiston schools and was married November 11, 1958 to Jeanne M. Gaudreau.Prior to his retirement, Conrad was employed many years at Knapp Shoe Company. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Cross Church, Knights of Columbus Council # 106 where he was very devoted as a degree team member, trustee and kitchen worker. He will be remembered as the "fix-it-man". If someone needed something fixed or tinkered with, Conrad's name always came up as the problem solver.He is survived by his wife Jeanne of Lewiston; a daughter, Collette Dubuc and husband Gary of Sabattus; two sons, Marcel Charest and wife Lenore of Lisbon Falls and Jeffrey Charest and wife Rebecca of Sabattus; 5 grandchildren, Ryan and Brad Charest, Deidra and Dustin Dubuc and Keirston Charest; 4 sisters, Muriel Rivard of Lisbon, Claire Dechene and husband Don of Oxford, Alta Bouchard and husband Normand of Lisbon and Alma Ouellette and husband Paul of Auburn.He was predeceased by a sister, Carmel Brassbridge. The family would like to thank Dr. Rausch and Vivian St Onge of CMMC Oncology and Dr. Austin, Tammy (RN),and Denise (CNA) of the Hospice House for their compassionate care given to Conrad. Visitations at the funeral home Friday from 2-4, 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Church. Committal to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
