Lewiston, ME - Constance “Connie” C. Roy, 88, of Lewiston, ME, passed away on April 9, 2026. Born November 3, 1937, in Lewiston, she remained deeply connected to the place that first shaped her. After this introduction, Connie will be remembered as hard-working, loyal, and kind-hearted in every season of life.
Connie grew up in Lewiston and, as a child, lived on River St. in what was known as Little Canada. She attended St. Mary’s School, building the roots of community and faith that stayed with her throughout the years.
She began her working life in various shoe shops before going to Hillcrest Poultry, bringing the same steady dedication to every job she held.
On August 20, 1960, Connie married Joseph “Ed” Roy, and the two moved to Bridgeport, CT, following their wedding. During that time, Connie made many friends and met family members for the first time. In 1963, they moved to Danbury, CT, where they worked at Reeves Soundcraft. She loved to shop for antiques in the surrounding towns, always enjoying the hunt for something special.
Connie later became a hairdresser and worked at the Levittown Beauty Shop until 1974. While in Levittown, she and her husband traveled in their new camper with many “camping” friends, creating memories on the road and friendships that added joy to everyday life.
Connie and Joe bought a home at 69 Warren Ave in Lewiston and lived there until 2014. Back in her hometown, Connie worked for Irene Chamberlains Beauty Salon and then spent five years at the LaMode Beauty Shop on Lisbon St. She eventually opened Connie’s Beauty Hair Den at her home, where she made many lifetime friends—relationships built one conversation, one appointment, and one act of care at a time. After closing her beauty shop, she went to work at Hudson Bus Lines as an aide on the special kids mini bus, where she retired in 2002.
In retirement, Connie’s favorite activities included babysitting her grand nephew, Owen Tebbets, one morning every week for six years—time given with love, patience, and the simple happiness of being together. Her passion was home cooking. She was a pro, and she was always ready to share her recipes with family and friends, feeding people in the way she knew best: generously and from the heart.
Connie was predeceased by her father, Lucien Laliberty; her mother, Clara (Lacasse) Laliberty; her husband, Joseph “Ed” Roy; her sisters, Annette Tanguay, Lorraine Gardner, Germaine Laliberty, and Pat Cheche; and her brothers, Daniel “Lib” Laliberty and Gerald Laliberty. She is survived by her sister, Dot Torgerson, and her brother, Donald Laliberty.
