Crystal, the beloved daughter of Brenda and Thomas Lavoie, was born in Lewiston, Maine on June 7th, 1978.
In Crystal’s early years, she attended Minot Consolidated School, Walton Elementary School, Edward Little High School, and the Franklin Alternative School. She lived most of her life in Minot, Maine, with her family, in addition to Greene, Maine, and Lewiston, Maine.
After her schooling, Crystal built a career in hospitality, where her warmth and natural kindness left lasting impressions on everyone she met. She worked alongside her family at The Bird Toucan Lounge, at the Ramada inn and for many years at FastBreaks all in Lewiston, Maine.
To Crystal, family was everything. She loved being a mother and partner. She was a guiding light to her long-time partner of 28 years, Jeffrey Birt, her daughters, Daisy and Meadow, her stepdaughter, Kassidy, and her entire immediate and extended family.
A remarkable woman of many talents and hobbies, Crystal enjoyed sitting down with a book, music and dancing until the sun came up at festivals and concerts, silversmithing and jewelry making, road trips and spontaneous adventures, herbalism and crafting homemade remedies, and sitting peacefully in her home, or in nature, with a hot mug of coffee.
With her helpful spirit, Crystal was the person who was always ready to support her loved ones through a hard time, the person to call for advice or someone to lean on, and a cheerleader ready to celebrate her friend’s and family’s wins, no matter how small.
Her fun and welcoming nature could quickly turn strangers into fast friends. Compassionate and open-minded, Crystal garnered many relationships with people from all walks of life, ages, beliefs, and abilities. In doing so, she helped build a beautiful community; one that we know she was deeply proud to be a part of and loved very much.
A beautiful woman inside and out, Crystal’s unconditional love and joy will be greatly missed. May we all remind ourselves to be more like Crystal; forgiving, generous, hard working, loyal, kind, and ready to be of service and to others.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Autumn Lavoie; her grandparents Maurice Lavoie, Dorothy Robinson, Fernand Cloutier, and Arthur Baril; her former partner and longtime friend Christopher Chappell; and her beloved Great Dane, Greta.
She is survived by her parents, Thomas and Brenda Lavoie; her grandmother Bernadette Cloutier; her sister Shari Kilton and husband Jeffrey Kilton, and their children Emma and Evelyn; her brother Matthew Lavoie; her partner Jeffrey Birt; her daughter Daisy Chappell-Lavoie and grandson Evander Perry; her daughter Meadow Lavoie; her stepdaughter Kassidy Wright and husband Jó Freitas; her Great Dane Nora; her loyal cat Basil (“Momma Chonk”); and many cherished friends and extended family members whose lives were touched by her love.
Crystal’s warm presence and love for life brought comfort to all she encountered. She will be deeply missed and remembered by all who had the privilege of experiencing her soul shine.
