David Christian McDonald was born on May 11, 1954 in Augusta, Maine to Fredrick F. McDonald and Erma Ruth Cray McDonald Vanna. He had four brothers and four sisters. David lived at Pineland Center from 1959 until 1980. From 1980 to approximately 1986, he lived at the Woodman Hill Group Home. David was cared for by Gene Davin from 1986 until Gene got very ill in 1995. Then he moved in with Nancy and Jim Witherell (February 2, 1995) and lived with them until his death, (August 22, 2021). David became a part of the Witherell family and was loved by all.
When David was younger, David liked to play basketball, but his favorite activity was bowling with friends. He collected all kinds of toy trucks and cars. He amassed a large collection of VW Beetle Bug cars. He loved having the kids come and play with his toys, especially Wyatt Baran and his sister Hadleigh.
Back in the 80s, David went to the Social Learning Center for many years, then he went to Personal Onsite Development (POD) Community Support Programs( Started 5-15-2001). He had the opportunity to meet people and made many, many friends. He enjoyed this very much.
We would like to thank everyone one who supported David throughout his life, especially Kelly and Dave Corriveau who worked with David from the 1980’s right up until his passing, the staff at POD, and the staff at CMMC, and the Androscoggin Home Health employees.
Status of his family is unknown.
