Dennis J. Hopkins

LEWISTON - Dennis J. Hopkins, 65, of Lewiston, ME, passed away on March 3, 2022 at CMMC following a brief illness. Dennis, a devoted, caring husband and father was surrounded by his loving family as he went to enter the gates of heaven.

He was born in Lewiston, ME, on March 27, 1956, son of the late Arthur T. and Loretta Noel Hopkins. Dennis was the youngest of six children, two preceded in his death.

Dennis served in the United States Navy from 1976 – 1982 where he was the disbursement clerk at the Pentagon in Washington DC. He was very proud of his service as a SeaBee. Dennis attended the University of Maine and graduated with a BSBA in Accounting and Finance in 1984. Dennis worked for the State of Maine Revenue service for almost 20 years, then established his own tax and accounting services. He served the public, proudly, for over 10 years helping clients with their tax returns and business needs.

As a lifelong New England Patriots fan, he looked forward to every football season. Possessing the ‘gift of gab', he thoroughly enjoyed talking to people, telling stories, and making them laugh.

He is survived by his loving wife Sandra (Pomerleau) Hopkins whom he married in 1990, his two daughters, Samantha and Taylor, and his two sons, Christopher and Michael, and granddaughter, Payson Ellis. Surviving siblings include, Suzanne Hopkins Wade of Norway, ME, Tom and Jean Hopkins of Burke, VA, and George and Donna Hopkins of Lewiston, Me. Dennis is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dennis is predeceased by his sisters Janice Hopkins Healey and Patricia Hopkins Chute.
