Donald Rene Bosse

Donald René Bosse, 71, of Brooksville, Florida and formerly of Mechanic Falls, Maine, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29th from complications of multiple myeloma in Milford, Massachusetts, with his children by his side.

Don was born on July 19, 1955, to Fleurange (Turcotte) and Gerard "Pete" Bosse. He was educated in Lewiston schools. He worked at Country Kitchen during and after high school and later in commercial bakeries. He took great pride in his work and the friendships he built along the way.

Don lived life with enthusiasm and found joy in both competition and community. He played slow-pitch softball and recreational hockey, was a member of Martindale Country Club, and a member of Little Canada social clubs like Le Passe-Temps and the 20M Club. He was an avid bowler for many years, and bowled in leagues at Holiday Lanes, Sparetime, and Good Times Lanes as well as competed in amateur bowling tournaments around New England. Camping was another of his passions, and many of his happiest summers were spent with friends and family at campgrounds throughout Maine, including Two Lakes, Keoka Beach, and, most recently, The Birches in Litchfield.

More than anything, Don loved people. Ever the jokester, no one was immune to his antics. He had an extraordinary ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and had a gift for turning strangers into friends. Whether around a campfire, at the bowling alley, on the golf course, or gathered around his table, he enjoyed bringing people together. His generous spirit, infectious smile, quick wit, and love of hosting gatherings made everyone feel welcome. He was the life of the party and, if there was music, he was dancing.

Pépère Don treasured his grandchildren beyond measure and cherished any time he could spend with them. He loved taking them out on his boat (a favorite of Carly Sue’s), fishing or driving golf balls with his grandson, Bentley. Video chats with Beckett, Scout, and Nixon always made his day. His grandchildren were all graduates of what he dubbed “Pépère Don’s School of Funny Faces”, he especially loved when they made silly faces with him.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Susan who resides in memory care in Spring Hill, Florida; his son, Jordon Bosse and his wife, Erica, of Milford, Massachusetts; his daughter, Danielle Roy and her husband, Nick, of Biddeford, Maine; his grandchildren, Beckett, Scout, and Nixon Roy, and Bentley and Isabella Bosse; stepsons, Brad and Alan Michaud and granddaughter Carly Sue Michaud; his sisters, Susan and her husband, Mike, of Sabattus, Maine; Irene and her husband, Jim, of Somersworth, New Hampshire; and Diane and her husband, Marc, of Sabattus, Maine; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his parents and his son, Travis Bosse.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., immediately followed by a memorial service at Fortin & Pinette Group Funeral Home, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston, Maine. In Don’s honor, we invite you to wear your brightest colors or boldest patterns.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Faye Yin and the team at Florida Cancer Specialists for their exceptional care throughout Don's illness, and to Salmon Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice for the compassion, comfort, and dignity they provided during his final days. We’re also grateful for the support and assistance of extended family and HighPoint Community friends, especially Nancy Manchester (and her dog, Brady), Gina Balsamo, and Wayne Labbe, all whose support allowed him to stay in his Florida home as long as possible.

Don will be remembered for his enormous smile, sense of humor, ability to make everyone feel like a friend, and his legendary "top secret" family recipes. His incredible dance moves, knack for cribbage, laughter, and love for bringing people together will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
