Auburn - Eugene A. "Pete" Lavoie, 82 of Lewiston passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the Androscoggin Hospice House with his family by his side. He was born in Lewiston, March 6, 1931 son of the late Eugene and Simone Boutin Lavoie. He was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was married May 24, 1958 to Constance Brillant. Pete served the City of Lewiston as a firefighter from 1960 to 1985. After retirement he worked in the maintenance department at St. Mary's Hospital. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Cross Church, American Legion Post # 22 and the Knights of Columbus Council # 10019 at Holy Family Church. His greatest treasure was spending time with his family and cat Simba. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, vegetable gardening, camping and playing cribbage and horseshoes. In his younger years he played in several softball leagues. He was a die-hard Montreal Canadians fan. He is survived by his loving wife Connie of Lewiston; a daughter, Linda Lavoie McKinney and husband Kenny of Minot, North Dakota; three sons, Albert Lavoie and wife Rita of Minot, Maine, Donald Lavoie and wife Nancy of Wales and Raymond Lavoie and wife Lisa of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Chantel Biron and husband Shawn, Nathan Lavoie and his companion Ashley, Ryan Lavoie, Alex and Marie Whitaker; a great grandson, Wesson Biron; a sister, Carmen Gilbert of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Lavoie of Michigan. He was predeceased by a sister, Yvette Henault and a brother Richard Lavoie. Visitation at The Fortin Group Funeral Home, Lewiston, Friday from 2-4, 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Church. Committal at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Augusta, date to be determined.
