

Lewiston—George C. Fournier, 76, of Lewiston, passed away Friday March 12 at The Hospice House in Auburn surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lewiston on December 11, 1933, the son of Napoleon and Rose (Berthiaume) Fournier. He grew up and was educated in Lewiston schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On June 9th, 1956, he married the love of his life, Doris Carignan, to whom he was married to over 53 years. He worked throughout New England for 38 years as a sheet metal worker for Local Union 545. He was a member of Ste. Croix Parish Catholic Church. Among his favorite pastimes were camping, playing cribbage, wood working, golfing, fishing, and lobster feeds with his family. He also spent the last 15 winters with friends at Mouse Mountain RV Park in Davenport, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife Doris, his children Raymond and his wife Mila, Daniel and his wife Debra, Susan and her husband Douglas Collins, Joline and her husband Raymond Vachon, James, and Robert and his wife Cindy. His brother Roger and wife Terry, his sister Carmen and her husband Marco Giancotti along with 11 Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Laurier and wife Elizabeth. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
