George A. Sanford

LEWISTON- George A. Sanford Jr., 77, of Lewiston died at his residence on Tuesday May 27, 2014 following a short illness. He was born in Panama, South America on June 24, 1936 the son of the late George A. Sr. and Venveranda (Daiz) Sanford and had been a resident of this community for most of his life. He had served with the US Navy from 1954 to 1962. He was employed for many years at Philips Elmet until his retirement in 1998. George is survived by his wife the former Mavis H. Hart whom he married on May 20, 1961 of Lewiston; one son Douglas Sanford of Rockville, Maryland; one daughter Lisa Aluisa and her husband Dennis of Andover, Connecticut; three grandchildren Joshua Morin and Jacob and Caroline Sanford; and one sister Roslie Sharpley and her husband John of Sabattus. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Tuesday June 24, 2014 at 12:00 PM at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Mt. Vernon Rd. in Augusta.
