AUBURN: Gertrude R. Bussiere, 97, of Auburn, passed away Sunday at the Hospice House with her family by her side. She was born in Auburn on December 5, 1915 the daughter of Auguste and Camille (St. Hilaire) Poirier. She grew up in the Auburn area and attended local schools. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School. In June of 1940 Gertrude married her husband Rosario Bussiere and they started a family together. During that time she and her husband owned and operated the Northwood Park IGA until retirement in 1976. Gertrude was a member of St. Louis Church in Auburn, the New Auburn Seniors, and Ladies of St. Anne’s. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo as well as wintering in Florida and going out with her high school girlfriends. She will also be remembered for her love of cooking, with baking pies being her specialty and her passion for spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her three children; Claire Cloutier and her husband Maurice of Greene, Paul and his wife Linda of Greene and Albert and his wife Patricia of Auburn. She also leaves behind six grandchildren; Susan Lyons, Claude and Michelle Cloutier, Michael and Melissa Cloutier, Anthony and Lisa Bussiere, Mikie and Torey Myshrall and Eric and Amanda Palmer, as well as 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson and many nieces and nephews. Gertrude was predeceased by her loving husband Rosario, three siblings Ovila, Roudouph, and Noella.
