Helen Jeanette Marcotte, 75, passed away on June 14, 2026. Born July 11, 1950, in Glendale, California, Helen was the daughter of Charles and Laura Hand. She was a beloved presence to those who knew her—marked by compassion in the way she cared for others and an honesty that was steady, direct, and deeply trusted.
Helen built her working life in customer service, spending the majority of her career with Reed Distributors and later with Sysco, until her retirement in 2012. Through years of dedicated work, she earned the respect of colleagues and customers alike, known for her dependable manner and the sincere courtesy she extended to everyone she encountered.
In May of 1970, Helen married Gary Ouellette Sr; their marriage lasted until 1972. On August 3, 1973, she married Roger Marcotte.
Helen found joy in the simple, lasting pleasures of time well spent. She loved four wheeling with family and friends, and she treasured camping—whether traveling widely in the motorhome or, more recently, enjoying days at their seasonal campsite. Her flower gardens were a source of pride and peace, reflecting the gentle care she brought to the world around her. She also enjoyed crafting and knitting, and she made a knitted “grandma blanket” for all to enjoy. Many will remember her most fondly through the warmth of her kitchen: her famous batches of fudge, cookies, and many different pies—offerings that carried her generosity into everyday moments and family gatherings.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Marcotte of 53 years. Children; Gary Ouellette and Carissa Nota of Bowdoin, Randy Marcotte of Lewiston, Ryan and Stephanie Marcotte of Sabattus. Grandchildren; Aimee Ouellette of Denver, Colorado, Derek Marcotte of Bowdoin, Nathan Marcotte and Elise Bentley of West Gardiner and Colby Marcotte of Sabattus.
She was predeceased by her Father Charles Hand, Mother Laura Hand, Step mother Betty Lee Hand and step brother Terry Aldershof.
