AUBURN: Henry James Charette, 84, of Lewiston passed away on Monday November 5, 2018 at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, ME. He was born in Van Buren, ME a son of the late John and Gertrude (Jacques) Charette.
He grew up in the Van Buren area loving the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his father and brothers.
After graduation, Henry proudly joined the US Army. During the Korean War, Henry served his country in the infantry on the frontlines of the battlefield.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, Henry returned home and pursued a career in the sales and service of office equipment until his retirement.
Henry will always be remembered for his passion of telling stories. Many of his close friends in Lewiston loved to hear his stories during morning coffee.
He is survived by his five children, Michael J. Charette and his wife Phyllis of Rogers, AR, Brenda Santoro and her husband John of Portland, ME, Theresa Corriveau and her husband Michael of Somonauk, IL, Jacqueline Quinn and her husband John of Memphis, TN, and Robert Charette and his wife Vanessa of Ft. Worth, TX. He also leaves behind his 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild as well as his loving partner of 12 years, Doris Galarneau. She and her family embraced him and loved him very much. He was predeceased by his daughter, Rachel Begin.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday November 13, 2018 at 10am at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Mt. Vernon Rd. Augusta. Those wishing, in lieu of flowers, may make a charitable donation in Henry's memory to the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, 15 Strawberry Ave, Lewiston, ME. 04240.
