

Rod was a graduate of East Douglas High School in East Douglas, Massachusetts. He continued his education by taking various welding classes and attending trade schools, building the skills that would become an important part of his career.
Rod worked as a maintenance worker at Pejepscot Paper in Brunswick before transferring to Bath Iron Works, where he worked as a welder. He retired from BIW in 2008.
On September 20, 1958, Rod married the love of his life, Carol Jean French. Together, they shared 68 years of marriage, building a life filled with family, friendship, adventure, and countless memories.
Rod enjoyed many activities throughout his life. He loved scuba diving and scalloping in Harpswell, skeet shooting, hiking, and spending time outdoors and in nature. He took great pleasure in feeding the birds and enjoyed staying active at the rec center and gym, where he played racquetball. At home, he could often be found watching westerns or simply enjoying time with his family, especially during holidays and other special gatherings.
Rod is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Carol Jean; his children, Brian Rodzen of Auburn and Lisa Rodzen Caron and her spouse, Philip, of Bowdoin; his granddaughter, Katelyne Rodzen Johnson and her spouse, Austin Johnson, of Augusta; his great-granddaughter, Adelyn Kate Johnson; and his sister, Linda Ridley and her spouse, George, of Bingham.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Gilbert Rodzen. He was also preceded in death by the many beloved pets who were cherished members of his family over the years.
Services will remain private for family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rod’s memory to the Andwell Hospice House, 236 Stetson Road, Auburn, Maine.
