It was an honor to bring communion to Irene at Clover. A long-time friend of my mother's, we shared many memories. She had an indomitable and zestful spirit. It was always a pleasure to be in her presence. Her faith was important to her, and I'm sure she is reaping her happy reward. My condolences to her children and bountiful family for their great loss.

Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of Irene out of this life as we know it. In times like this, words are of such little consequence, but we hope it will bring peace and at least a tiny measure of comfort for you to know we are thinking of you, keeping you in our hearts, and certainly our prayers now and in the time ahead.

My relationship with all of you, "The 6 J's and 2 D's," has been one of my life's greatest memories, and I treasure those times. One of the first stories I heard about your mom and Uncle Ray was that my dad babysat them, combining shining the floor at your grandparents by swishing the children around as they sat on polish cloths.

As time went on, I created my own memories at Aunt Jennie's. Your mom was always interested in what I had been doing and how school was going, and I always looked forward to seeing her. I loved the sparkle in her eyes and how she laughed and teased my dad about needing to brush up on his French. Although as a child I didn't realize the depth and breadth of his WWII experience in the South Pacific and then liberating the camps, I knew at a deep level how spending time with your folks was healing for him.

For all of this and more, I am so grateful that Irene and your whole family have been a part of my life. Thank you for the memories, and thank you for sharing your folks with our family.

Love,
John, Marj, and Maria
