Janet Armanda Camardese

She was the loving widow of Anthony R. Camardese, who passed away on May 29, 2019.

Born in Lewiston, Maine, Janet was a beloved daughter of the late Armand Hamel and the late Julie (Dupont), wife of the late Winston Bickford.

Janet was a Navy wife for more than 20 years and remained a strong American patriot. She and Tony were active members of American Legion Post #135 of Sabattus, Maine.

She worked at the Lewiston Sun-Journal as a proofreader, then receptionist and switchboard operator for 26 years, until she retired in 1994.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Dr. Tonie Camardese Crandall, wife of Stephen Crandall in Mohnton, Pennsylvania, and five grandchildren: Andrew Camardese (wife Chantel) of Brunswick, ME; Jenna Sfraga of Poughkeepsie, NY; Stephen Crandall of Mohnton, PA; Julie Crandall of Mohnton, PA; and Rebecca Lesagonicz (husband Nicholas) of Mohnton, PA. She also leaves four great-grandchildren: Robert Anthony Lesagonicz, Logan Sfraga, and twins Emilia and Reagan Camardese.

In addition to her husband, Anthony, and her parents, Janet was predeceased by her daughter, Julie Camardese; son, Gino R. Camardese, who is survived by wife Joan; twin sister, Jane Ouellette, who is survived by husband Grover; and sister, Doris Hamel.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Visitation for Janet on Monday, May 18th from 10AM to 12PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 305 Alfred A Plourde Parkway Lewiston, ME 04240. An In House Funeral Service will take place after Visitation at 12PM, with Committal Prayers to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery at 1PM.
