Jean C. Carson

 AUBURN – Jean C. Carson, 91, a resident of 440 Minot Avenue, Auburn, formerly of Syracuse, New York, died unexpectedly Saturday evening at Clover Health Care Facility. She was born in Hinton, West Virginia, August 7, 1917, the daughter of George W. and Bettie (Spencer) Coleman. She grew up, graduated from high school, and married her husband, Robert, in Hinton. Most of Jean’s married life was spent in Syracuse, New York. She was very active in the North Syracuse Baptist Church, which was an important part of her life. She served the church in many capacities, including as Christian Education Director. Jean and Robert celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary October 26, 1986, just a few months before his death. Jean was a true Southern gentlewoman. She was the loving center of her family, and a consistent, encouraging presence in the lives of her family and many others. She was accomplished in many areas, especially cooking. Her grandchildren were quite fond of her cookies, party mix, and fondue. Jean’s life revolved around her church, family, and friends. She is now rejoicing in her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior, her beloved husband, Robert, and many other loved ones. Survivors include one son, William C. Carson and wife, Patricia, of Auburn; two daughters, Betty C. Day and husband, David, and Carol Lee Carson, all of St. Louis, Missouri; six grandchildren: Susan Snyder and husband, Richard; Karen Goslin and husband, Paul; Gretchen Fricke and husband, Perry; Kristin Bogan and husband, Shawn; Joy Gray and husband, Dan; and Eric Day and wife, Merry. Also surviving are 13 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Clover Health Care for their loving care of Jean for the past 3 years while she resided at Clover. They also are grateful for the wonderful staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their kindness and compassion as they cared for her. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, her parents, four brothers, five sisters, and one granddaughter. CARSON died in Auburn, March 21, 2009, Mrs. Jean C. Carson, age 91 years, formerly of Syracuse, NY. Memorial services honoring Jean’s life will be celebrated FRIDAY March 27, 11:00AM at East Auburn Baptist Church, Park Ave., Auburn. Burial will be held at a later date in the family plot in Syracuse, NY. Memorial donations in Jean’s memory may be made to the mission programs at East Auburn Baptist Church and North Syracuse Baptist Church.
