

Lewiston- Mary Marguerite “Jeanne” Dagneau, 80, of Lewiston Maine, died Thursday, Sept. 22 2022, at The Odd Fellows' and Rebekahs' Home of Maine following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born in Augusta on March 19, 1942, the daughter of the late Philias and Lillian (Bilodeau) Fortin.
Jeanne received her education in the Hallowell school system. At the age of 19 she passed the Maine Board of Barbers and Hairdressers exam becoming a barber working for several years in the Augusta area. After becoming a barber Jeanne continued her education, proudly receiving her GED. Following her career as a barber Jeanne worked for Maine Electronics as a supervisor until it’s closing in 1990. After raising her family Jeanne returned to school and became a CNA. Working at St. Mary's D'Youville Pavilion she enjoyed her true calling passionately caring for Alzheimer’s patients and after 14 faithful years she retired in 2004.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, board and card games, along with competitive games of croquette and trips to the casino. Her greatest pleasures in life were loving the Lord and being with family, especially her grandchildren.
Jeanne was predeceased by her brothers Joseph “Phil”, Norman, Daniel “Danny” Fortin and her sisters Cecille Albert, Irene Barrett and Dell Gallagher. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Leo Dagneau of Lewiston; three children, Delina Clavet and her husband, Roland, of Clarksville Tn; Jeffrey Rousseau and his wife, Sheryl, of Leeds; Regina Cole and her husband, Thomas, of Topsham; five brothers, Roland Fortin of Florida, Richard Fortin of Hallowell, Patrick Fortin of Augusta, Larry Fortin of Augusta and Reggie Fortin of Chelsea; sister Barbara Lee of Hallowell; eleven grandchildren, Tania and her husband Shed Winston, Alexander Clavet, Cinzia and her husband John Lawless, Davis and his wife Rebecca Rousseau, Nathan and his wife Mackenzie Rousseau, Johnathan Rousseau, Zachary Rousseau, Alisha Bernier, Emily Cole, Hannah Cole, Thomas Cole Jr; five great grandchildren, Julien, Josephine, Sophia, Natalie and Scarlett; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family extends its gratitude to the staff of The Odd Fellows' and Rebekahs' Home for their compassionate care of Jeanne.
Visitation will be held at Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred A Plourde Pkwy, Lewiston, on Wednesday Sept. 28, between 2 and 4 pm, service immediately following.
