Auburn-Jeanne Gardner Lauze, age 82, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2021 at Clover Health Care Facility. She was born on May 12, 1939 in Auburn, ME to Arsene and Cecile (Bussiere) Gardner. She was educated in the Auburn School System and was a 1958 graduate of Edward Little High School. After graduation, she entered religious life with the sisters of St. Joseph and received her bachelor’s degree in Education from St. Josephs College in Standish ME. She taught as a sister for 13 years in Jay, Winslow, Waterville and Lewiston.
After leaving religious life, she met and married Richard W. Lauze in April, 1971 and together raised 5 children. Jeanne was a teacher in the Lewiston, Auburn , Durham and Norway elementary and middle schools. After receiving her master’s degree in education in the 1970’s, she was principal of Durham Elementary School. In her later years, she taught special needs children in Norway ME until her retirement in 1994.
She belonged to St. Phillip’s Catholic Church in Auburn, was a member of the Auburn Snowmobile Association, a member of civil air patrol, and was an ardent New England Patriots fan. She enjoyed living on Crystal Lake in Canton, ME.
She is predeceased by her husband of 24 years, Richard W. Lauze (d. 06/05/95), her parents Arsene and Cecile Gardner, and her in laws William and Germaine Lauze.
She is survived by her longtime companion, Norman Trenoweth, her siblings: Gerard Gardner and wife Pauline, Paul Gardner and wife Marnie, and Marguerite Gardner MD; her children: Ann M. Brooks, MD and husband Andy, Scott Lauze, MD and husband Mark, Lisa Albert and husband Kevin, Bill Lauze and wife Lina, and Daniel Lauze and wife Jennifer as well as 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

RICHARD AND I WENT TO GRAMMAR SCHOOL TOGETHER
WE ALSO WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL,AT ST DOMS,GRADUATED IN 1957.
WE WENT TO WENTWORTH ,WICH IS NOW A UNIVERSITY.
RICHARD WAS THE ONE WHO GOT ME INTERESTED IN WENTWORTH,WE SPENT A LOT OF TIME TOGETHER IN BOSTON.I HAD A CAR SO WE DROVE TO LEWISTON TOGETHER. WE ALSO PICKER UP OTHER STUDENTS IN PORTSMOUTH BACK TO WENTWORTH.
ME AND MY FAMILY VISITED YOUR FAMILY ONE SUMMER I HAVE 6 KIDS.WE HAD A GREAT DAY.MY CONDOLENSES.

My memories of my cousin Jeanne is how kind hearted of a person she always was, she made time for you know matter how far you lived, loved her family very much. She always had a smile and nothing but kind words about everybody
she knew. To her family my condolences,she was very important to this family in many ways we will miss her dearly .

My sincere condolence to Gerry, Paul and Meg. Memories of her and family are very dear to me. Spent lots of time on the Ridge in our younger days.
I know the loss of a sister/mother , but know she is at peace and with her parents.
