

LEWISTON – Jeannine Marie Anne (Lavoie) - Jeannine Marie Anne (Lavoie) Gosselin, 70, of 16 Valley St., went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, August 9, 2010 at the Hospice House in Auburn following a prolonged illness. She was born in Lewiston, January 25, 1940, the daughter of Alphonse and Alice (Sevigny) Lavoie and was educated in Sabattus and Lewiston schools. Upon graduating from Lewiston High School in 1958, Jeannine began employment with Ward Brothers in Lewiston as an office worker. On September 23, 1961, she married Donald A. Gosselin, at which point she began orienting the major portion of her life to family. Her dedication grew to include membership in numerous organizations, such as Survivance Francaise, La Rencontre, Holy Cross Seniors, Lewiston Seniors, Sabattus Seniors, the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 135 of Sabattus, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Holy Cross of Lewiston. In addition, she was a loyal and active volunteer in the Franco-American Heritage Center and the Holy Cross School Cafeteria. A close family, friends, church, dancing, cards, home cooking, traveling and a franco heritage made up a large part of her interests. She is survived by : her husband, Donald, of Lewiston ; one daughter Anne-Marie Albaugh and her husband William Sr., of Westminster, MD ; four sons, Andre and wife Veronique of Montreux, Switzerland ; Marc and wife Linda, of Greene ; David and wife Michelle, of Greene, and Sean of St. Louis, MO ; her sisters, Doris Meservier and husband Jean Paul of Lewiston ; Veny Lavoie of Lewiston ; Joan Casavant and husband Louis of Lewiston ; and Louise Demas and husband Andrew of Kingston, MA ; her brothers, Laurier Lavoie and wife Irene of Lewiston ; Maurice Lavoie and wife Jaqueline of Bedford, NH ; and Robert Lavoie and wife Jeanne of Lewiston ; sister- and brother-in-law, Jean Paul Gosselin and wife Lucille of Orrington; sisters-in-law, Gisele Lavoie of Lewiston; Doris Gosselin of Lewiston; Yvette Gosselin, sfcc of Wells; Gertrude Gosselin of Brewer; eight grandchildren Aaron, Melanie, Joshua, Sarah, Christopher, McKenzie, Tayelor and Andrew; as well as by numerous nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by brothers Aime and Normand Lavoie; sisters-in-law Exilia St. Pierre and Liette Poliquin; and brothers-in-law Germain Gosselin and Marcel Gosselin. Jeannine wished to mention special thanks for the compassionate care given by doctors and medical staff of T-1 at Lewiston's Central Maine Medical Center and the Hospice House in Auburn. The family also extends their thanks to visiting family, and the large network of close friends, such as her coffee friends. Her final days at the Hospice became a humble lesson in the celebration of life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Cross Church Thursday at 8:00 Am. Graveside committal at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Mt. Vernon Rd. Augusta, Me. In lieu of flowers donations will be welcomed for a stone dedicated to Jeannine at the Franco American Heritage Center 46 Cedar St. Lewiston, ME 04240.
