Lewiston - Jeannine E. Smart, age 79, of Bartlett St., died Monday morning March 19th at her residence. She was born in Lewiston February 26, 1933, a daughter of Ludger and Marie (Rossignol) Pelletier. Jeannine was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. She was married to Albert M. Smart on December 1, 1951 who predeceased her on February 13, 1978. Jeannine first worked for 7 years at Continental Mill and later worked 27 years at Bates College until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of the former St. Joseph's Church, and was a member and President of both American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary Unit #'s 31 of Auburn and 22 of Lewiston. She also served as Chaplain of the Lewiston Auxiliary in 1980. Jeannine was also a member of Queen's Guild and Holy Cross Seniors. She enjoyed doing crafts, watching movies and her favorite TV shows, especially "Touched by an Angel" and travelling and taking trips with her husband and Holy Cross Seniors as well as Pilgrimage and Fall foliage trips with her friend Lorraine Ouellette of Greene.
She leaves one sister Jacqueline Farrell and husband Robert of Carpentersville, IL and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Albert Smart and four brothers Louis, Philip, Paul and Gerry Pelletier.

Funeral Notice:
Smart, Jeannine M. 3/19/12. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at The Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul Church Tues 11 AM. Committal to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. At her request, there are no visiting hours.
