John Firczak

February 26, 1936November 11, 2018

Bowdoin- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, and friend, John Firczak. John passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 11th, Veterans Day, which was always a monumental day for him. John was born in Fayette, Pennsylvania on February 26, 1936, a son of the late John and Anna (Zapko) Firczak. He attended school in Pennsylvania, graduating from Lovedale High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served his country for eight years, including in the Korean War. Afterwards, he proudly continued his service with the Maine Army National Guard’s 133rd Division for over twenty two years, retiring as a Sargent. On September 19, 1959 he married the love of his life, Pauline Masse. In September they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. John was an electrician for IBEW local 1253 for 50 years. He was a lifetime member of the Webber Avenue Social Club and the American Legion Post 135. John loved hunting, fishing, working in his garden, walking on his land, sitting in the sun and giving his grand furbabies rides in his golf cart on Firczak Lane. He was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. John will be missed eternally.

John leaves behind his wife, Pauline Firczak of Bowdoin, two daughters: Jodie Gilbert and husband Yvon of Greene, Joyce Martin and husband Keith of Bowdoin and one son: John Firczak and wife Michelle of Bowdoin, six grandchildren: Johnny, J.P., Jordan, Ashley, Colton and Morgan, six great grandchildren, his very dear friend: Dave Pleau and a large extended family. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his twin brother: Robert Firczak, older sister: Mary Ann Furcini and an infant great grandchild: Cobi Firczak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston followed by Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, John would have liked you to spend time with your families, feed the birds and love life. You are invited to offer your condolences and share fond memories with the family by visiting John’s guestbook at www.thefortingrouplewiston.com. Oh Firczak family, it has truly been a rough couple of years. Although circumstances have caused a separation between us, I still have always thought warmly of your family and have always thought of you all as family. I am so sad for the loss of Uncle John. What a sad, sad day..... Only good thoughts and prayers to all of you and of course, for Uncle John. He and his brother are back together again. Love and miss you all, God Bless.

Aunt Pauline, Jodie, John , Joyce and families.
We are sorry for your loss. Uncle John was such an inspiration to us. Always had tons of laughs with him and loved visiting. I will always remember how hard he would hug me thinking he may someday break my back, to the tinsel on his Christmas Trees. He so loved Christmas and family. We will certainly miss him , his infectious smile and his huge ❤️.
Rest In Peace Uncle John. We will never forget you.
Sending prayers, love and hugs to all of you. 💕🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
