

He was born in Auburn, Maine on July 11, 1928 the son of the late Charles and Eliane (Berube) Jalbert and had been a resident of this community all of his life.
He was educated in Lewiston schools and owned and operated Joe’s Plumbing for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of the U.S. Army having served his country in Korea.
Joseph enjoyed playing in the men’s Sunday night hockey league playing for Joe’s Hockey Team. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed woodworking selling many of his hand made pieces. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, step children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Lilliane (Cusson-Rancourt) Jalbert whom he married on January 25, 1991 of Lewiston; one son Dominic Jalbert of Auburn; one step-son Daniel Rancourt of Litchfield; two daughters Dolores (Dolly) Grondin and her fiancé Richard Hussey of Lewiston and Diane Jalbert of Auburn; one step-daughter Roxanne Couillard and her husband Phil of Greene; one sister Priscilla Benoit of both New Hampshire and Maine; two grandchildren Greg Grondin of Lewiston and Erik Grondin of Leeds; two step-grandchildren TJ Couillard and his wife Beth of Monmouth and Michael Rancourt of Maine; several great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife Lucille Rancourt; a son David Jalbert; a daughter Delia Dumont; three sisters Rita Sirois, Alda Lacasse and Louise Jalbert.
The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center’s Emergency and ICU Departments for the wonderful care they had given to Joseph.
A Funeral Mass honoring Joseph’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Church. Committal services along with a Military Honors service will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 2-4 & 7-9PM at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston 784-4023.
