A belated memory of Joseph R. Landry from a fellow USAF member who met Joe in boot camp at Lackland, AFB, TX in October 1956. We discussed the similarity in our last names (mine is Londree) and wondered if we were somehow linked. Then we separated and went our individual ways. I later did some Genealogy study and found that my ancestry was descended from Rene Landry (Le jejune) and Marie Bernard. My Grandfather had his spelling changed in school but his Father was Joseph John Landry. I often wondered about Joseph Roger Landry and recently decided to research what became of him when I found his obituary. He was a year and a half my senior. I am now 85. I was 17 and he 18 when we met at Lackland. So sad to learn he is now gone. Time has surely flown!

LEWISTON - A Memorial Mass honoring the life of Joseph "Roger" Landry was celebrated by the Reverend Steven Cartwright Saturday April 29th at Holy Cross Church of the Prince of Peace Parish following prayers at Pinette Dilingham & Lynch Funeral Home..

During the Mass the New Testament reading was proclaimed by grandson, Joseph Landry. The Prayer of the Faithful was recited by grandson, Curtis Arena, and the Offertory Gifts were brought to the altar by Roger's grandchildren, Danielle and Matthew Cardello.

Following a funeral procession to St. Peter's Cemetery Reverend Cartwright recited committal prayers after which the United States Air Force Honor Detail played "Taps" and presented our country's flag to Roger's wife, Nadette in appreciation of her husband's service to our Country during the Cold War and the Vietnam Conflict.

The urn bearers were Michael Cardello, Gauvin and Stephen Arena as well as Matthew Landry.

At the conclusion of services all in attendance were invited to a reception of fellowship at the Chic-A-Dee Restaurant in Lewiston. Artrangements by Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home of Lewiston.
