This is how Kathy saw herself. It was taken from her face book profile.
She enjoyed her face book world. Calling me to see the latest picture of the grandkids or telling me what her face book friends were doing.
We all know that Kathy had eye for the finer things in life. A nice outfit, jewelry and her hair being just so were important to her. Perhaps you didn’t know the other Kathy.
The simple things that brought joy to Kathy. Beautiful blue skies, a pretty flower, sitting on the deck watching birds at the bird feeder, especially a red cardinal, were more important. Felling needed and appreciated were her only real desires.
Kathy always looked for good in people. She never understood why someone would ever deliberate try to hurt someone. She took a walk daily in the neighborhood and made many friends along her route. She enjoyed stopping to talking with them. Always remembering what was happing with them. Asking about a sick wife, vacation or commenting on how nice their yard looked.
She enjoyed her family. She was proud of her daughters. She could was always tell when something troubled them just from the sound of there voice. Sorry girls dad’s clueless. She adored her two grandsons. Always wishing she could spend more time with Chase and cherishing the time she had with him.
She faced death several times. Never giving up hope. Always sure she’d make it. When she had leukemia, she told her doctor “my daughter is getting married on July 13. You have until then to cure me.” She saw her daughters’ wedding. It made her appreciate things more. Just saying, “Let’s go for a dairy queen sundae” would make her eyes light up. She enjoyed the sundae but it was that some one remembered she like them that brought her joy. Heather had her 60th birthday announced on the 12 o’clock news. Within seconds Aunt Rosemary was on the phone. She was so happy she talked about it all day.
She had no time to be idle. She had to keep moving making each moment count.
She took great pride in how her home looked. Taking care of the flowers, trimming shrubs, mowing the lawn. Yes, she actually got dirty. The inside was cleaned top to bottom every day. Everything had to be spotless.
She survived breast cancer, leukemia, renal cancer and skin cancer twice.
She lived in fear of cancer coming back.
Several years ago her aunt helped her find strength in God. She always wondered why he put her through so much but she still kept her faith. She believed in the power of prayer. She was active in a prayer group on face book and would often stay up late because she had people that she needed to pray for. Now all 2000+ of them were asking for her recovery. Heather said God always listens to our prayers. Sometimes His answerer is no.
We don’t know why he took her from us.
We wish Kathy an eternity of piece in heaven.
Sara was Kathy’s face book friend. She posted an inspirational thought each day. Kathy would often share them with me.
This is one of Sara recent posts
Love is not written on paper, for paper can be erased. Nor is it etched on stone, for stone can be broken. But it is inscribed on a heart and there it shall remain forever.
You will always be in our thoughts and prayers. We miss you.

October
The sun shines brightly in the blue sky
Maple and oak leaves are flying by
Trees are decorated with yellow and orange leaves
Trees sway back and forth with the cold autumn breeze
The wind circles around me: leaves dance on the ground
Trees are left bare without making a sound
Leaves have to fall I know
They cover and warm the earth to prepare for snow
A definite chill is in the air
I reach for my hat to cover my hair
The fragment smell of wood burning
I love to see autumn leaves turning
Houses decorated with pumpkins on every lawn
I’ll be so sad to see October gone
Thankful
In just a moment my life would change
Life’s plans I had to rearrange
Consumed with cancer
I looked t God for an answer
I am thankful for each new day
I see my life in a brand new way
I am hopeful for tomorrow
But I know time we can not borrow
I thank God for another year
To be with my family I hold so dear
